ALIEN

Reminiscent hulls of alien life, wither, flicker, move true light.

Leer Hüllen von gehäuteten Libellen bleiben nach der Häutung im Frühling an Ästen und Uferböschungen kleben. Oft in grosser Zahl. Mit der Zeit vermischen sie sich mit Sand, Holzpartikel und Spinnenfäden und zerfallen langsam. Dabei bilden sich neue, spannende Strukturen.

Empty shells remain, the husks of metamorphic life.

Their spirits lifted into flight, passed beyond all earthly domain.

REMINISCENT HULLS

This autumn, I spent many hours on the lake by boat, exploring the wild, overgrown shoreline. Fallen trees and exposed root stumps reach into the water, creating rich habitats for fish and insects. On one such root stump, I discovered countless exuviae—the empty shells of hatched dragonflies. The late autumn light caught these cobweb-covered remnants, giving them a warm, almost luminous glow. From the boat, I captured a series of images that documented this fleeting moment of light and life. Just a week or two later, shifts in sun and weather made such photographs impossible. Next year, the cycle will begin anew, and a new generation of dragonflies will leave its traces along the shores of this living ecosystem.
